What are nosings?
There are two types of nosings; the actual front profile of the stair tread (aka the tread profile) and the pieces of custom trim with matching profile that are mounted across the top rise of the stair system, as well as around landings and surrounding stair openings. These work in concert to give the area a connected, cohesive look and feel. To view our tread & nosing profiles please click here.
Do you provide drawings or renderings?
Yes, we provide scale stair drawings for all signed projects at no charge and full 3D modelling for a modest upcharge.
Do you provide samples?
Yes, we provide sample packages for signed projects so that you’re able to see and feel just what you’ll be getting before we proceed with any manufacturing. Please click here to visit our product profiles page to learn more and see what we have to offer.
What methods of payment do you accept?
What are your payment terms?
We require a deposit of 50% due on receipt for individual stair or railing projects with the final balance due Net 30 Days following completion of the installation. For combined stair and railing projects we require a deposit of 1/3 of the project total with the 2nd and 3rd draws invoiced and due Net 30 Days following installation of the stair and railing systems respectively.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are insured with general liability insurance up to $ 2,000,000.00 as well as being fully WSIB certified.
Do you provide nosings?
Yes, we are able to manufacture, supply & install nosings to match with each of our unique tread profiles.
Can you re-use my existing stair and/or railing components?
While not always possible, if requested we will do our best to accommodate the re-use of existing components for new projects. A site review of the components will be required before any final determinations can be made.
Do you provide glass railing systems?
Yes, we supply and install a wide variety of different style glass panel railing systems (including standoff-mounted, track-mounted and stringer embedded variations).
Do you provide individual components for sale?
No, we do not offer individual components (i.e. handrails, tread caps) for general sale.
Do you provide metal stair systems?
We do not manufacture metal stairs ourselves but work with collaborators if requested (i.e. to supply and install wood treads for a metal stair sub-structure by others).
Do you provide wrought iron railings?
No, while we offer wood & metal combination railing systems, we do not provide any full wrought iron products.
Do you provide stair cladding/capping services?
Yes, we can supply/install new tread caps and risers to make an existing stair system look brand new.
Do you provide exterior stair and/or railing systems?
No, at R&A Stairs Ltd we manufacture, supply & install interior stairs and railings only.
Do you provide repair services for stairs and railings from other companies?
Unfortunately we do not provide any repairs for products that we did not supply and install ourselves.
Do you offer removal services for existing stairs and railings?
Yes, we will remove and dispose of existing stair and railing systems for a quoted disposal fee.
Do you offer finishing or re-finishing services?
No, we do not get involved with any painting and/or staining work. All of our wood products are planed and finely sanded to accept finishes by others unless specifically stated otherwise however.
